Exploring Skyborn Skateland and Drive-In | Abandoned in Fairborn, Ohio
Relive the memories of Skyborn Drive-In and Skateland
We recently had the opportunity to make the final visit to Skyborn in Fairborn. The properties are being sold to Barrett Paving. The current owner of Skateland opened the property to the public because it meant so much to the community. Skateland was full of skates, signs, furniture, lights, safe, and much more still left inside but most of it was sold during this last view sale. Walking through Skateland and listening to all the stories from those that spent there childhood skating there was a blast. After we went through Skateland we walked over to the Skyborn Drive-In next door. Surprisingly, the building was wide open as vandals smashed doors and windows in. It was amazing to find the projector was still intact and unharmed. Such a great glimpse into the past. The Fairborn historical society is investigating saving artifacts including the main Skyborn Theater Sign. Hopefully, they can make it happen.
